Yesterday…

Yesterday I went to the cinema with my husband.

We saw Benjamin Button. Damn! What a sad movie!

It’s interesting, but the reason why we love the image of being born old is the necessity of knowing it all. We want to show up in the world with all knowledge, all sort of experiences and live life with wisdom.

This movie just shows the guy being born old and losing his consciousness on the way back to the crib. So, he is probably only fully conscious of himself – body and mind simultaneously – somewhere in the middle of his existence.

Of course it contradicts biology when he “grows down”.

But we want to be old in our experiences, not physically. We want to be born with all knowledge needed to survive. We want to be spared of the pain of learning from our mistakes and the pain of growing.

As it is supposed to be, we achieve consciousness in a quite early time and usually don’t lose it – except in cases of mind diseases related to ageing.

I would like to have the knowledge that my grandma has, not the wrinkles. I bet you do too.

Nevertheless, it’s an interesting, sad movie.
